Matt's work is predominantly within the London Thames Gateway, working in collaboration with the London Boroughs of Newham, Greenwich, Bexley, the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation and various landowners.

Matt graduated from the Architectural Association in 2004 and taught an urban-focused unit there for three years. He has a long relationship with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam where led their first competition for a London building - the Rothschild headquarters in St Swithin's Lane - which is now under construction, and worked with SANAA in Tokyo on the Rolex Centre for École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne.
