We are working across London to provide ambitious improvements to the network of public spaces, from the doorstep to the street, parks and landscapes.

The Mayor’s Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF) for Waterloo proposes a new public space - Waterloo City Square - to significantly improve the space around Waterloo station and to improve links between the station, the IMAX cinema and Waterloo Road.

As well as the creation of Waterloo City Square, the OAPF promotes better public space, enhanced permeability to and within the area, and new development, principally in the area around and above Waterloo station.

Design for London has worked with partners to commission designs for the City Square through an open design competition, jointly funded by the London Development Agency and P&O. DSDHA won the competition in March 2009.

Design for London is also working with partners to develop proposals to improve Lower Marsh and Emma Cons Gardens.
