We are working across London to provide ambitious improvements to the network of public spaces, from the doorstep to the street, parks and landscapes.

Greenwich Waterfront Transit (GWT) will provide an integrated bus transit service between Woolwich and Abbey Wood.  It will provide a rapid bus service (with separate bus lanes for much of the route) to accelerate and support regeneration in Thames Gateway.  The eight-kilometre first phase of the project could begin operating in late 2011.  GWT forms part of the Thames Gateway Transit network, along with the planned East London Transit bus service.

Design for London assisted in the selection of the consultant team.  Urban designers Burns + Nice were appointed and are working with main consultants Parsons Brinkerhoff to ensure that GWT opens up opportunities to improve the public realm along the route.

As the scheme develops, Design for London continues to work with the design team to make sure that GWT can boost the regeneration of the areas that it travels through.
