We focus a lot of our resources on areas of London experiencing significant change. In these places we invest in long term collaboration to help shape great places.

The regeneration of this site, formerly occupied by St Andrew's Hospital in Bromley-by-Bow, will deliver over 950 new homes, health care facilities for the local community, and high quality public spaces. Design for London worked with the London Development Agency (LDA) on the brief for and selection of the development team.

Allies and Morrison are the lead architects for the masterplan and the first phase of the development. Glenn Howells and Maccreanor Lavington are the architects appointed for phases two and three. The project received planning permission in autumn 2008, and the hospital buildings on site were demolished during 2008. Work commenced on site in February 2009.

The whole development aims to build to high environmental standards and will include both smaller flats and larger family accommodation. Fifty per cent of the housing will be designated as affordable housing, boosting community benefits from the scheme.

As well as advising on the selection process, Design for London will remain involved throughout the development process advising the LDA on the design of the scheme.
