We focus a lot of our resources on areas of London experiencing significant change. In these places we invest in long term collaboration to help shape great places.

Design for London has worked with partners to secure exciting new designs for the regeneration of this former print works in Kennington, south London.

Offley Works sits tucked behind buildings and gardens just off Clapham Road, it has been largely vacant for some years. Purchased by the London Development Agency (LDA) from the London Borough of Lambeth, the site will be redeveloped as an employment-led mixed use scheme.

Design for London, working with the LDA Land & Development team and The Architecture Foundation, ran a limited design competition in 2007. Six young and emerging architectural practices (past winners and runners up of the Foundation's Next Generation Architect awards) were invited to produce concept designs for Offley Works.

The designs were judged by a panel including the Royal Institute of British Architects, Design for London and the LDA. The winner was 6a architects, selected for their sensitive approach to the re-use of existing buildings.

The LDA is now in the process of selecting a development partner to deliver this project, who will work with 6a to develop the concept design to planning application stage.
