We focus a lot of our resources on areas of London experiencing significant change. In these places we invest in long term collaboration to help shape great places.
New Cross Gate station is part of the new East London Line extension, which will open in 2010. TP Bennett is preparing a masterplan for the adjacent Sainsbury's site. The current plans retain the existing supermarket, together with a new station and over-station development, housing, retail and extensive public realm improvements.
The project, which includes the new station square, forms a significant node in the Route Number 1 public realm priority project for the borough, which links Kender Triangle to Deptford Creek, forming a series of new spaces away from the busy Old Kent Road.
The GLA Planning Decisions Unit and Design for London are members of the stakeholder group for this project.
