We focus a lot of our resources on areas of London experiencing significant change. In these places we invest in long term collaboration to help shape great places.

The redevelopment of the Lintons Estate in Barking will accommodate 600 new high quality homes and an enterprise centre for small business start-ups. Design for London has worked with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to brief and appoint the design team.

The Lintons Estate project is part of the broader regeneration of Barking Town Centre, including improved connections between Barking station and areas to the north of the Northern Relief Road.

Developers First Base in partnership with the Homes & Communities Agency and the borough have appointed a design team including architects Maccreanor Lavington, Karusekevic Carson, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris together with landscape architects Gillespies to prepare a planning application for the area and the individual residential elements. The first phase includes the Legi business centre, designed by Karusekevic Carson, which is due to be completed by 2010.

Muf architecture/art is working with the team as design champion for Barking's Public Realm Code and to implement strategic landscape objectives within the development.

Design for London has acted as design adviser, has assisted with consultant selection and briefing and has conducted regular design review to ensure that the design vision is implemented.
