Design for London is involved in a number of projects in the Royal Docks area, one of the most significant being the Thameside West development, located between Thames Wharf and Thames Barrier Park. Current work builds on a previous study from 2005 by KCAP architects and Maccreanor Lavington. It will establish a masterplan to clarify the future distribution of employment land, wharves, green and social infrastructure, and to define development scenarios for the Thameside West area.

As part of this we are working with a design team to establish the feasibility of a consolidated wharf served by a new shared jetty. Design for London, working with the above partners, is leading input into the urban design workstream and has re-appointed Maccreanor Lavington as designers from the LDA's design framework panel.

Within this area there are a number of complex land use issues and sites with live planning applications on which Design for London is providing design advice, including:

* the safeguarded Peruvian Wharf , which is to be reactivated as an aggregates facility

* Minoco Wharf, a mixed use development including a yacht harbour and passenger jetty for river services. This site is owned by Ballymore and has been masterplanned by 3dReid with outline planning consent given in 2008.
