Silvertown Quays is a 24 hectare, London Development Agency (LDA) owned site within the southern part of Royal Victoria Dock. Design for London has helped shape the masterplan for this new urban quarter of 5,000 homes, focused around a network of major public spaces. The masterplan received planning consent in spring 2007.

More detailed public space proposals are currently being developed. These include an enhanced setting for a major visitor attraction, improved links across Silvertown Way to Barrier Park and beyond, and a high quality public space and streetscape setting for the adjacent Pontoon Dock DLR station.

Canadian firm Urban Strategies International has masterplanned Silvertown Quays and Patel Taylor Architects designed the landscape as well as a new footbridge link to Pontoon Dock station.

Joint developers Silvertown Quays Limited (SQL) and KUD International are working with the landowners, the LDA. Design for London, working on behalf of the LDA on design quality issues, is represented on the Design Review Panel throughout all stages of the development.

Architects Adams & Sutherland have also been commissioned by the London Borough of Newham on the urban design of the adjacent North Woolwich Road corridor. Design for London sits on the steering group for this piece of work.
