The world famous Grade I listed Marble Arch currently sits on a traffic gyratory that forms a barrier between Oxford Street and Hyde Park. Design for London has been working with partners to overcome these barriers.
John McAslan and Partners were commissioned to propose a long term vision for this site. This includes a new public space linking the arch to Oxford Street and enhancing the pedestrian connections to Hyde Park.
In preparation for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games a phased approach has being taken and surface pedestrian crossings are being built as a first step.
Partners: Transport for London, Westminster City Council
