To create a successful urban district in the Lower Lea Valley, it is essential that the local transport network is dramatically improved. Today the area has excellent strategic connections, but suffers from very poor local connections.  Pell Frishman was commissioned by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) in 2007 to undertake an assessment of local connectivity. Design for London was part of the client team and took part in the selection process. The recommendations and options are now being developed further by the LTGDC, and through individual masterplans and projects including the Legacy Masterplan process.  Design for London leads in the coordination of how these projects relate to wider connectivity strategies in the Lower Lea Valley.
