Design for London and the London Borough of Waltham Forest have been working together to client new public realm in Leyton. The Leyton Links project will improve the public spaces along Leyton High Road and create better connections to surrounding areas.

Located to the immediate north-east of the Olympic 2012 Games site Leyton has been identified as key within the Olympic Fringe area, where the vision of the Legacy of the Olympic Games – to fundamentally improve the physical, social and economic conditions across east London – will be realised. This project also incorporates the work from the Northern Olympic Fringe masterplan and Waltham Forest's ‘High Street Life’ study.

East Architecture and Landscape developed the design approach and undertook scoping and detailed design. Designs are now complete and include 70,000 sq.m of enhanced public realm with new paving, street lighting, improved pedestrian crossings, tree planting and feature lighting of green spaces.

Works have started on site, and will be complete by the summer of 2012.
