This derelict 11 acre site to the west of Wood Green town centre is the subject of a masterplan for a new mixed-use development that will yield more than 1,100 new homes. Design for London is working closely with partners to ensure the scheme offers exemplary design.

The site is predominantly owned by National Grid, the London Development Agency (LDA) and the London Borough of Haringey also have land interests. It provides an opportunity to create a low-carbon, mixed-use development providing new housing, workspace, a new café, community hall, play space, and public space.

A planning application has been submitted (in spring 2009) and if successful, National Grid and the LDA will jointly select a development partner to deliver the scheme.

MAKE Architects and their consultant team have organised the masterplan around the creation of legible streets and spaces, defined by buildings ranging between four and ten storeys. The focus of the development is a generous public square, animated by cafés, bars, markets and other activities overlooked by the new homes.
