The Beckton Loop Masterplan develops the North Circular Route - a project identified within the Cross River Park Feasibility Study - endorsed in 2006 by stakeholders including the GLA Group, London Borough of Newham and the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC).  The masterplan will scope, design and plan the delivery of paths and green spaces in East Beckton, from Royal Docks Road to Gallions Reach, along Thames Waterfront and up Barking Creek.

The masterplan expands on the Offset Principle - a delivery strategy outlined in the Cross River Park study - where upcoming developments dedicate a strip of land to public use - gradually creating a green, connected network of ecologically diverse spaces across the area. Design for London is currently in dialogue with Thames Water, whose Sewage Treatment Works and Tideway Tunnel Extension is due to begin on site later in 2009, as well as National Grid, local schools and other stakeholders.  In addition, Design for London provide advice to the GLA Planning Decisions Unit, Newham and the LTGDC on other applications within the area.

The Beckton Loop masterplan will complete in May, with design development and capital funding bids to follow.
