Beam Reach comprises a series of industrial sites being developed by the London Development Agency in Havering. These will provide space for a wide range of occupiers, already including Newsfax printers and Wincanton logistics. Design for London is acting as design champion to support the successful development of Beam Reach.

The masterplan for Beam Reach 5 has been prepared by Peter Beard/Landroom. This proposes a strategic layout of industrial plots around green space designed for ecological and flood storage functions, and sets out design guidelines for the individual plots.

Beam Reach 8 lies between Ferry Lane and the River Thames: here a series of small industrial sheds are proposed as well as improved flood defenses and a riverside path and café. The first phase of this development (masterplan by East and developed by Easter) has been completed and has begun to revitalise this degraded industrial area.

Design for London has assisted with consultant selection and briefing, and has conducted regular design reviews.
