Design for London is supporting the development of the draft Planning Framework for the Upper Lea Valley Opportunity Area. This is an eight-mile corridor extending north from Lea Bridge Road to the M25.
We are working with partners to establish a framework of future opportunities for the area, drawing together existing and emerging policies and strategies. This framework document will include an examination of strategic industrial land, and a landscape strategy which proposes 'Walthamstow Wetlands' as a new open space resource around the reservoirs.
At a more detailed level, Design for London has participated in masterplanning at Tottenham Hale, seeking to focus development around a new station square and improved transport interchange. A similar exercise is underway at Blackhorse Lane, and Design for London is also working with partners in Enfield to assist their 'Place Making' initiative for the borough.
Partners: Greater London Authority, North London Strategic Alliance, London Boroughs of Enfield, Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest, Thames Water
