The Thames Water owned 'Ridgeway' is an elevated path established above a major Victorian Sewer. It forms a green link between Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, Thamesmead and Plumstead; and is a key gateway from the West into the rich network of green open spaces and waterways in Thamesmead and Erith Marshes.

Following an initial scoping study by Witherford Watson Mann Architects as part of feasibility work on the A206 corridor, Design for London is now working with muf architecture/art, the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley and Thames Water on a study for further improvements to the Ridgeway including access from the A206 and Plumstead Station.

The East London Green Grid strategy, Cross River Park feasibility study and Thamesmead Delivery Plan have all identified the Ridgeway as a priority public realm project similar to its twin project north of the River Thames, the Greenway.
