Building on the success of the North London Town Centres Study, Design for London has commissioned a further study into town centre intensification looking at seven suburban town centres in South London.
The study, produced by Urhahn Urban Design, examines the types of development that could deliver more capacity in town centres. GVA Grimley, who also contributed to the study, explore some of the current barriers to delivering such growth, including policy constraints, and suggest potential solutions. The study aims to stimulate debate around suburban town centre intensification and was published in May 2009.
