The Royal Docks is an astonishing place occupying a key strategic location between the Lower Lea Valley and Barking Riverside. The London Development Agency (LDA) is the biggest landowner in the Royals and market interest in the area has been strong. Design for London is working with the LDA Land & Development team to ensure that development proposals are successfully integrated within this unique though heavily constrained location.

As part of the City East project, Design for London and KCAP architects undertook a strategic options appraisal of the Royal Docks and Canning Town in 2006. We are now working with the London Borough of Newham and partners on the overall strategy as part of the emerging Royal Docks Area Action Plan.

Design for London is also working with the LDA, the London Borough of Newham and other partners on defining infrastructure projects that the area needs such as the completed Tidal Basin roundabout improvements, new bridge links, new road infrastructure and new riverside access.

We are working closely with other partners on the masterplanning of the Thameside West area and providing design advice on a number of LDA developments in the area including Silvertown Quays, Thames Barrier Park East, Royals Business Park, Landmark site and the Excel estate.
