Greenwich Peninsula is a key growth area in Thames Gateway, based around a masterplan by Terry Farrell for 15,000 homes. The former Millennium Dome, now the O2 Arena, is a key driver for economic growth. The development partners of this largely Homes & Communities Agency owned area are progressing the detailed design of a substantial number of housing blocks. Design for London has been advising the GLA Planning Decisions Unit on the design of the masterplan and all subsequent planning applications.

Development opportunities have yet to be explored at North Charlton due to its solid employment uses and safeguarded wharves. Design for London is looking forward to engaging more with the London Borough of Greenwich and Greenwich Waterfront Regeneration Agency in the development of a regeneration strategy for the North Charlton area.
