The new public square is intended to provide a multi use public space which can be used and enjoyed by all members of the community. It will form part of a new mixed use regeneration scheme incorporating new Council offices, residential flats, a new food store and restaurants around the new public square together with a step free bridge across the A4 connecting the town centre to Furnival Gardens which overlooks the river Thames.

King Street is part of The Mayor's Great Spaces Initiative which supports the excellent design and delivery of public realm projects across London.
