Design for London is working with the London Borough of Lewisham on a regeneration strategy and a series of public realm improvements for Deptford and New Cross. Design for London and the borough commissioned Witherford Watson Mann to determine opportunities to enhance the public realm around Deptford Church Street.

Design for London has provided local partner Creative Process with design advice and funding to organise the Deptford Creek Design Charrette, which took place in June 2008. This week-long event engaged with local stakeholders to develop a long overdue vision for the Deptford Creek area. Design for London and Creative Process, with help from David Kohn Architects, published a report on the charrette proposals in February 2009. Design for London is also currently compiling a Heritage Audit of the Deptford Creek area. The aim is to feed the above work into the review of planning policy for the area, led by the adjoining Boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham.
