The London Borough of Newham and London Thames Gateway Development Corporation commissioned Witherford Watson Mann Architects and AZ Urban Studio to develop a masterplan for a small industrial site south of Canning Town Underground station. This investigates the possibilities of mixing residential and industrial uses. The study was completed in April 2008. Design for London was on the client team and helped prepare the brief and assisted with the consultant selection process.

The London Borough of Newham are now building on this study to establish clear development guidelines for this area, to ensure the sites contribute to the overall regeneration of Canning Town.
